Advanced Level Apprenticeship
Duties and responsibilities
To support all staff and students in the use of information technology
To spend time in the community of schools to help maintain the ICT equipment
To respond to ‘call outs’ from staff or from the community of schools
To assist with routine maintenance and repair of computer and audio-visual equipment, including replacement of consumables and cleaning
To help with the installation of hardware including data projectors, computers, peripherals and software
To assist with the training of staff in the use of ICT
To respond positively to changes in ICT development for the benefit of the academy
To help maintain internet facilities and other learning technology for curriculum use
To produce and present support materials for staff and students, if required
To assist with maintenance and management of the Academy ICT Inventory system
To assist the ICT Technicians with the logging and resolution of Helpdesk support calls
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you are responsible for or come into contact with
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all
Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the college academy
Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required
Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
Assist with student needs as appropriate during the working hours
To make suggestions to improve the ongoing effectiveness of non-teaching support
To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety or relevant legislation and college documentation
To undertake any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading level and responsibility of the job
To understand and comply with the college’s Academy’s Equal Opportunities Policy
All support staff will work on INSET days
Holiday leave will be in line with the policy for all support staff. Annual Leave cannot be taken during term time
All staff are expected to work in a flexible and versatile manner as directed by their line manager

Requirements and prospects
The post holder is required to be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protections, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above including maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)
Progression throughout the company with a possibility of Level 4.
Things to consider
Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

About the employer
The former de Ferrers Specialist Technology College became a Single Academy Trust in 2011 and during that time, made a commitment to share expertise and work with other schools. Subsequently, it became a Multi-Academy Trust in September 2015, known as The de Ferrers Trust.
The trustees believe that converting to a Multi-Academy Trust will enable the Trust to support a wider network of schools and thus improve and impact upon the lives and educational experiences of a larger number of young people.

Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme, you will be required to attend your local academy for 30 days of training across five months, featuring structured training
The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your employer
You will work towards a Level 3, Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship
The apprenticeship will include:
Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths (if applicable)
Knowledge Module 1 – Networking and Architecture
Knowledge Module 2 – Mobile and Operating Systems
Knowledge Module 3 – Cloud Services
Knowledge Module 4 – Coding and Logic
Knowledge Module 5 – Business Processes
One vendor certification selected based on your job role and individual capabilities (Typically a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) certification)
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded BCS accredited knowledge modules covering the following topics: Networking and Architecture, Mobile and Operating Systems, Cloud Services, Coding and Logic and Business Processes. You will also receive an industry recognised qualification from Microsoft or CompTIA whilst gaining eligibility to apply to the register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA L3 Professional Competence.
