Langdale House are looking to develop a caring and hardworking individual in a demanding care assistant role by completing an apprenticeship. You will be trained in all aspects of working within a nursing home.

Monday to Sunday shifts working 40 hours, shifts TBC.

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
The role is primarily to offer support to the care assistant team under the supervision of a senior member of staff. Your daily duties will include, but not be limited to:
To visit service users as directed by the Operations Manager.
To provide personal care, e.g. to assist service users to wash, bathe, shower, dress, feed. To assist service users to the commode or toilet, to empty catheter bags (where necessary), promoting continence where appropriate.
To assist service users to transfer safely, e.g. from bed to chair
To provide meals where necessary, having regard to service users’; dietary requirements and choice, and / or assist with meals on wheels.
To be aware of and to follow procedures for management of money at all times when dealing with service users’; finances.
To collect prescriptions if required and remind service users of the necessity of taking prescribed medicine, but not to administer medicine.
To assist service users to maintain contact with family, friends and the community.
Due to the personal care elements of this role you will need to be 18 years old before September to apply for this role.
Your working week will require flexibility and include weekends.

No qualifications required, you will need to complete some initial maths and english assessments as part of the application process.
This is a fantastic opportunity with possible long term future prospects as the care home is anticipating major growth. There maybe an opportunity for the right candidate to complete further training/qualifications.
Things to consider
The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

All training will be delivered in the work place with no requirement for day release to college. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.
