We have a vacancy available for an Apprentice ICT Technician working within our school setting.

This is an excellent opportunity to work as an Apprentice ICT Technician, where you will have a passion for solving technical problems and a willingness to learn.

Training will be provided both on the job and via block release at college.

Main role / duties:

The Apprentice ICT Technician is an important part of the ICT team.

The school is expanding and therefore increasingly dependent on its ICT systems working properly and efficiently. It is essential that the school is at the forefront of efficient and effective systems to enable the school to raise achievement through Information and Communications Technology.

The Apprentice ICT Technician responsibilities will include;

  • Assist the IT technicians in the day-to-day running of the department
  • Install and maintain computer hardware, software and audio/visual equipment
  • Maintain an up to date inventory of ICT equipment and ensure cleanliness of equipment
  • Routine administration including, data backups, Active Directory maintenance
  • Software installation, maintenance and upgrading
  • Administration and development of Internet and E-mail systems
  • Printing problems – both hardware and software – determining and rectifying the cause of faults
  • To keep abreast of technological developments and encourage the use of ICT at all levels
  • To support class teachers in ICT lessons on a daily basis
  • To assist with IT training – INSET days and IT drop in sessions when necessary
  • To support staff and students with the set-up and preparation of ICT equipment around the school
  • Report any detected breach of the school’s ICT acceptable use policy to the ICT Manager
  • To be aware of the school’s health and safety policy and to assist in carrying out the responsibilities detailed therein
  • Maintain stocks of spare parts and consumable items, including printer consumables

Desired qualities:

  • Strong IT skills, preferably in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Responsible attitude, reliability and the ability to treat information confidentially
  • Ability to demonstrate professional verbal and written communications skills
  • Hard working, diligent, self-motivated, trustworthy and a team player
  • Interest in the technical aspects of computers & networking

Desired qualification requirements:

3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject, plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above.

Working week:

5 days per week,

Monday – Friday,

8:45am – 3:45pm,

30 hours a week – term time only 35 hrs a week, [all details will be confirmed with the employer]

Salary:

£126 per week.
