This scheme is a 2 year apprenticeship that will train you to maintain aircraft whilst giving you the underpinning knowledge of a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Cat A Engineering Technician.
What Does The Apprenticeship Involve?
The Aircraft Maintenance and Support Advanced Apprenticeship is designed to train the next generation of Aircraft Maintainers. It provides a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved course. Year 1 is based at the Academy on Humberside Airport where you will complete the EASA Category A modules including classroom time, workshop time and on-aircraft simulated Maintenance tasks.
This apprenticeship will train you to work in the aerospace maintenance sector, you will cover the following:
-Aircraft Mechanical & Avionic Systems
- M1 – Maths
- M2 – Physics
- M3 – Electrical Fundamentals
- M5 – Digital techniques
- M6 – Materials and Hardware
- M7 – Maintenance Practices
- M8 – Basic Aerodynamics
- M9 – Human Factors
- M10 – Aviation Legislation
- M11 – Turbines, Structures and Systems
- M15 – Gas Turbine Engines
- M17 – Propellers
- AAES – Aircraft Assisted Emergency Systems
At the end of this apprenticeship, you may be eligible for a Mechanic role within the business. However, dependent on performance and capability, you may go onto undertake the Level 4 Category B apprenticeship which is a further 2 years.
The Category B apprenticeship will see you trained to a higher level and you would then be eligible for Technician roles within the business with the ability to go on and become a supervisor.
