• To support the overall strategy and ethos of Buttercup Barn Day Nursery and support the Nursery team to deliver the high level of childcare intended by the Nursery
• To deliver a programme of childcare which meets legislative standards and treats equally children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and those with additional needs
• To deliver a programme of activities that provides stimulation and covers all aspects of child development
• To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to follow the child protection procedures adopted by the Nursery
• To allow children to learn, using appropriate intervention as required, with a level of sensitivity to allow each child to learn according to their needs and reach their full potential
• To praise and encourage children to achieve
• To demonstrate positive and proactive attitudes and behaviours throughout the Nursery
• To work collaboratively as part of a team
• To ensure the Nursery is safe, hygienic, tidy and well presented at all times
• To ensure Nursery procedures are always adhered eg. Collection of children and recording of accidents
• To ensure that mealtimes are conducted in a sociable manner
• To assist with experiences planned by the Nursery team for the children including the setting up and clearing away of equipment and materials
• To wash and change children as required
• To take responsibility for Health and Safety standards as appropriate for the needs of the age group
• To ensure confidentiality of information
• To provide effective liaison with Parents/Carers and staff to help ensure that the needs of each child are met and that parental choice is an influential factor in terms of care given
• To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required, whether within or outside of working hours
• To ensure personal compliance with Nursery Health and Safety procedures, ensuring that safe working practices are always maintained and risk to staff, children and parents/carers is minimised
• To work towards developing skills professionally and to obtain relevant qualifications in line with government legislation
• To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Nursery Management
