The main duty within this role is to promote the physical, social and emotional development of each child within your remit and contribute towards their care and supervision.

Roles and responsibilities include:

Meeting and greeting parents and children at the nursery
Making sure all children are safe and treated equally
Participating in activities with the children e.g. reading, numeracy, literacy activities
Communicate with parents/families to help to encourage the child
To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
Assisting at snack and mealtimes
Outdoor play

Upon completion of the Children and Young People’s Workforce apprenticeship programme, you may be offered the opportunity to progress within the business.

Things to consider
The successful candidate will be required to complete a full DBS Check (formerly known as a CRB Check).

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour (from 1st April 2018 this rises to £3.70 per hour). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship.

For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

About the employer
All our staff have clearly established roles which link to their qualifications and experience. There are opportunities to progress throughout the nursery groups through promotion, this enables staff to continually improve their qualification levels and experience. We have many long term employees as we value all members of our team and we all work together as reflective practitioners. Experienced staff model good practice and mentor newer staff and students. Our staff team are passionate about their work and genuinely care about and cherish the children parents have entrusted to us.

Each nursery has a cook, cleaner, accounts manager and maintainence staff ensuring that the high quality standards in each nursery is the Manager’s and Director’s main priority.

We have a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) in each setting who spends one to one time with children, parents and staff, giving advice and support to ensure the best possible care and education is given to the children in our care.

We have two Area Managers who ensure the staff have high expectations of themselves and of our children to ensure each child makes excellent progress through the nursery. They also help to support the management and staff to identify training needs and keep up to date with new legislation.

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. Jack and Jill’s Day Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to upskill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

If successful, you will complete an Intermediate Children and Young People’s Workforce apprenticeship programme delivered through Jack and Jill’s Day Nursery’s dedicated training provider, Interserve Learning & Employment.
