Do you dream of being a software developer? Do you have a logical mind and a methodical approach to every task that you undertake? Do you enjoy discovering how things work and how they can be improved? If this sounds like you, we have the apprenticeship that could launch you into a software career.
Based in our conveniently situated Sheffield city-centre office, you will join our bespoke team who work on a variety of interesting and innovative software projects.
You will be supported by your team mates who are all experienced software professionals with a wide breadth of experience to share with you.
The team will show you the ropes and help you develop your technical skills and knowledge. As your confidence, skills and experience grow, you will become involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including:-
- Writing code
- Unit testing
- Third line support and fixing software defects.
The combination of a formal training regime and on-the-job learning will ensure that you gain all the experience and skills needed to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
You will enjoy working as part of a team and will understand the importance of meticulous attention to detail and the need to be consistently accurate and thorough.
Strong verbal and written communications skills are needed, and you will be good at organising and planning your time and working to deadlines.
Any previous experience of a software development language or database design concepts is advantageous but not essential as you will learn all about these both on-the-job and during your formal training.
To take part in the level 3 programme, you will need at least 5 GCSEs grades A-C or grades 9 to 4 (including Maths). You will also require English at grade D (or grade 3) or above.
For the level 4 programme, you will need either a level 3 qualification or A-levels including IT. University graduates can also apply as long as their degree is in a significantly different subject i.e. not IT or computer science related.
Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm
£14,500 per annum

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.
To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
