We are a small software development company, based in the centre of Leeds and have been in software development since 1983. Our product, BLISS, is used primarily in the Food and Beverage Industry. It is an ERP (Enterprise, Resource and Planning) suite offering everything a business needs in ICT.

Including:

  • Customer Sales
  • Manufacturing and stock control
  • Purchasing
  • Financials
  • Internet Ordering and enquiries

The Apprentice Software Engineers will be a member of a small team with the ability to perform tasks unsupervised and will be trained to create, maintain and support websites and web-based applications as well as offer advice on the phone to customers.

Job overview: 

We believe we can offer more than just gaining advanced programming skills to our Apprentices, you will get the opportunity to learn about all aspects of business, project management, databases, software design and development.

We will deliver training in the most up to date software development platforms.

You will be given in house training in:

  • HTML
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript and JQuery
  • Php
  • Database Design
  • Project Management

We will bring you up to advanced levels quickly and will push you to develop your own ideas.

Main role / Responsibilities: [will include but not be limited to]:

 The Apprentice Software Engineers will be a member of a small team with the ability to perform tasks unsupervised and will be trained to create, maintain and support websites and web-based applications as well as offer advice on the phone to customers.

Working week:

Monday to Friday, 9-5.30, 37.5 hrs p/w

Salary:

£7,800 per annum

Future prospects:

Our aim is to use apprentices to move our product forward and to create our next generation of Project Managers. The apprenticeship will last up to 13 – 15 months, with opportunities for the right people, to move into full time development roles at the end of the apprenticeship. For the right people, there is the opportunity to continue to work towards a full time Software Engineer/Project Manager role within the company, further developing your skills over a 5 year period. You will increasingly be involved with customer projects, attend meetings with customers, provide training and support and ultimately manage projects through the full Development Life Cycle.

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
