Advanced Level Apprenticeship
Typical daily roles and responsibilities will include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Windows Desktop setup and support
Administration of MS Server 2008 / 2012, Active Directory, Citrix/Terminal Servers
Recovery of files using MS DPM 2012
Essential Maintenance and updates of Windows Servers, Hyper-V servers and associated applications
Liaise on a day-to-day basis with 3rd party hardware and software providers
There will be a requirement on occasions to work at outstations located in the UK & Europe
Flexibility is required as it will be necessary on occasion to work outside of normal working hours to carry out essential maintenance that cannot be done during the flying programme.
Our client would preferably like a candidate who could drive, however if the candidate is learning or shows a desire to drive, this would also be acceptable.
Requirements and prospects
Prior Knowledge of IT hardware, software and networks is desired but not essential
Strong communication skills both written & verbal is essential
A full/clean drivers licence would be desirable
Flexible & adaptable – you will work with a whole range of clients with different requirements
Thick skinned – A client may become irate that their systems are down – it is crucial that you don’t get flustered
Hardworking and reliable
Effective problem solver
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above Including maths, English and ICT (or equivalents).
For the ideal candidate the opportunity to progress onto a level 4 program or secure a full-time position will be available.
Things to consider
The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour as of 1st of April 2018. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.90 an hour for 18-20 year olds; £7.38 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.83 for those over 25.

Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme, you will be required to attend your local Academy for 30 days of training across five months, featuring structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3, Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship will include:
Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
Knowledge Module 1 – Networking and Architecture
Knowledge Module 2 – Mobile and Operating Systems
Knowledge Module 3 – Cloud Services
Knowledge Module 4 – Coding and Logic
Knowledge Module 5 – Business Processes
One vendor certification selected based on your job role and individual capabilities (Typically a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) certification)
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded BCS accredited knowledge modules covering the following topics:
Networking and Architecture
Mobile and Operating Systems
Coding and Logic and Business Processes
You will also receive an industry recognised qualification from Microsoft or CompTIA whilst gaining eligibility to apply to the register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA L3 Professional Competence.
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS).
