Apprentice Telephone Sales Executive

Duties include:

  • Manage a portfolio of existing and potential customers via the telephone on a regular call cycle to ensure committed business with new and existing customers
  • Establish customer agreements and ensure that pricing guidelines are always applied.
  • Ensure that customer prices are reviewed on a regular basis
  • Maintain the customer information accurately and in a timely manner in the Comet database in order to ensure that customer information is available to all relevant functions interfacing with customers
  • Closely liaise with all relevant DHL departments to maximise customer sales potential across the business.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with – DSC Employees, Sales and Marketing Team, Customer Accounting, Customer Services, Customer Care
  • To record and achieve predetermined revenue, activity and quality targets
  • To ensure optimum sales territory cover, maximum productivity and minimum diversion at all times
  • Ensure that more cost-effective sales channels are consistently promoted and implemented to customers in order to achieve customer satisfaction as well as the lowest cost per shipment transactions

75% of apprentices that successfully complete their apprenticeship remain with the company and 30% of those transfer to a different department within the business during their second year.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.70 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.90 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.38 for 21-24 year olds and £7.83 for anyone aged 25 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
