The Marketing Apprentice will learn and develop experience across a broad spectrum of digital and direct marketing, working towards the Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship standard.

The role holder will bring a passion for learning and an enthusiasm to develop knowledge and experience in the following areas of marketing: digital marketing, social media, PPC, display advertising, CRM, direct marketing and events. They will work across and support the existing Marketing team ensuring our campaigns are innovative, aligned to our mission and are continually tested for maximum effectiveness.

Key responsibilities
Acquisition

Support lead generation activities for prospective target audiences:

Content marketing using BCS.org
Social media activity
Third party engagement campaigns
Support and represent BCS at acquisition events
Engagement, renewal and reporting

Following the acquisition of new members, customers or organisations, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery and development of launch materials and engagement communications through to retention, covering:

Digital launch materials (email, webpages, myBCS content)
Direct launch materials (event, direct mail, brochures and posters)
Member sign up and engagement communications
Event participation schedule and wider BCS voices engagement plan
Engagement surveys
Digital renewal communications
Lapsed & reactivation campaigns
Data management

Ensure BCS remains compliant in its use of data, applying understanding of relevant legislation, e.g. Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, Cookie Law.
Ensure the integrity of the data used and manage an annual calendar of communications to avoid communication saturation;
Relationship management

Work cross-functionally across departments to build wider knowledge of the organisation and to ensure projects run smoothly and to maximise areas of expertise within BCS;
Support the marketing team in setting campaign objectives and writing briefs to initiate the design process with creative agency resources
Marketing Effectiveness

Apply appropriate marketing effectiveness tools to measure effectiveness of campaigns, using benchmarking and KPIs;
Prepare and present campaign effectiveness reports on a scheduled basis, with analysis of quantitative results, recommending actions to be taken as a result
Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director;

Person specification
BCS is willing to consider candidates of any educational background for this apprenticeship opportunity; although a GCSE in English at grade C or above would be an advantage
No previous marketing experience required, but some work experience within an organisation would be preferred
Strong aptitude and passion for learning and personal development
Good attention to detail
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills, with a friendly and engaging manner
Good appreciation for the needs of a Customer – able to view things from the customer’s perspective
Researching and Analytical
Problem solver
Strong awareness and understanding of the digital world and how people interface with technology
Good understanding of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Creative flair – an eye for design
Ability to identify areas for improvement within your department
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines
General theoretical business studies knowledge, to include Marketing, product, finance, sales
Knowledge of IT and the IT industry an advantage
Knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR Regulations would be an advantage
Special conditions:
Occasional travel in the UK to attend events
