We’re a network supporting volunteers and community organisations across Bromsgrove and Redditch.

We’re the voice of the voluntary sector, support local communities, and help with networking, information, funding and volunteering. We’re the local Council for Voluntary Service and run the Volunteer Centre for Bromsgrove and Redditch. We also host Bromsgrove and Redditch Open Spaces and we run the BURT community minibus across Bromsgrove District.

A great opportunity for an Administration Apprentice to join a small, enthusiastic team that supports local communities, promotes volunteering, and helps other charities.

Main purposes

  • To provide administrative support for the team at BARN to ensure the smooth and effective running of the organisation
  • To be the first point of contact for telephone enquiries and visitors to the Redditch office
  • To ensure accurate financial record keeping

Level of Responsibility

The Apprentice Administrator is expected to help run the day-to-day operations of the office.

Main responsibilities

  • Specifically Administration & Finance Apprentice is responsible for:
  • helping to run the day to day administrative operations and systems
  • being an important point of contact, answering and returning telephone and email messages, dealing with and processing written correspondence including mailouts
  • dealing with any enquiries in a positive and helpful manner. 
  • developing and maintaining good customer relationships
  • providing particular administrative support to the Volunteer Centre and community minibus operations
  • updating and maintenance of the organisation’s databases, website and social media

Key tasks

  • To ensure the service is efficient and effective. 
  • To exercise proper integrity in respect of confidential matters and personal information obtained during the execution of the duties of this post.
  • To be a keyholder for the BARN office (you will be provided with a key to access the office).
  • Work within the policies and procedures of BARN.  
  • Undertake other duties as requested which are appropriate with the general character and level of responsibility of the post. 
  • To understand and comply with the legal requirements of The Health And Safety at Work Act (1974), and any other relevant regulations. 
  • To carry out duties and responsibilities required under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation in particular, to take all reasonable care that no unauthorised loss or disclosure of personal data occurs
  • Occasional lone-working later on in the apprenticeship.

GCSE A*-C English and Mathematics or equivalent grades/qualifications.
