Are you looking to start a career in Childcare? We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic new apprentice to join our Nursery and become part of our team.
Tuesday to Friday 30 Hours Per Week, shifts TBC.
Total hours per week: 30.00
Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
As a childcare Apprentice, your day-to-day tasks will include:
Planning and supervising activities with help and support
Helping with taking children on outings
Feeding and caring for both babies and young children
Making sure the children are safe and well at all times
The working hours are 30 hours, and the working days are Tuesday to Friday.
You will need to be punctual, reliable and flexible and be available for extra hours and shifts as required.
We are based on St Vincent Street, very close to the Birmingham Canal Old Line, and we have a bus stop within a few minutes walk of the Nursery.
Requirements and prospects
Someone who is able to work as part of a team and use their own initiative.
We are looking for a patient, kind and considerate individual. someone who is friendly, lively, outgoing and chatty
Someone who is motivated, enjoys a challenge and is willing to learn
Someone who has completed the relevant Maths and English qualifications would be preferable but full training will be provided.
In the future you could progress to Level 3 and become a qualified nursery nurse.
This could lead to a carer in a day nursery, a school, an hospital etc.
At the end of the apprenticeship you may well be offered employment at the nursery if everything went well.
Things to consider
The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds, £7.05 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.50 for those over 25. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
About the employer
The nursery has been in operation for 17 years, we are currently an outstanding setting and therefore training will be of a high quality. The staff are very warm and friendly and appreciate new ideas and concepts that a new apprentice may bring.

Level 2 Diploma in Children and Young Persons Workforce
Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT
Employment Rights and Responsibilities
Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
All training will be delivered in the work place with no requirement for day release to college. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.
