Horn End Day Nursery in Hixon are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and creative individual to join their team and grow with them. While working for Horn End Nursery and alongside Paragon Skills, the apprenticeship training provider, you will be actively working towards gaining your Level 2 childcare qualification.
Your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to;
As an Early Years Practitioner you will interact with our children at all times, providing opportunities for them to become actively involved in their own learning. The Early Years Practitioners will be expected to use their initiative, being particularly aware of their own Key Group, and the need to maintain a safe environment.
Children must be given free-flow play opportunities under adequate supervision. Early years Practitioners must be reliable and take shared responsibility for the duties in the nursery and the welfare of the children.
Clear lines of communication and professional conduct must be maintained at all times.
Your working week will be Monday to Friday, consisting of 42.5 hours per week. Your working hours and shift patterns will be discussed at interview if you are to be successful.
Requirements and Prospects
Some experience with children would be advantageous for this position and a good level of Math and English for observation and reporting purposes.
Good communicator and listener
Able to work independently and within a team
Some knowledge and understanding of first aid and children
Passionate about childcare
Once the apprenticeship is completed you will have the opportunity to work within the Early Years Sector.

All training will be delivered in the work place with no requirement for day release to college. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.
The current Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW) is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
