Working in a small team based in our central Edinburgh city campus, you will help our Digital Marketing team maintain and develop the University’s presence across our digital platforms. The Digital Marketing team are part of the University’s Communications and Marketing department. We manage and support corporate website content, key recruitment content and corporate social media channels.

Working in a small team based in our central Edinburgh city campus, you will help our Digital Marketing team maintain and develop the University’s presence across our digital platforms. You will gain valuable work experience working with a variety of experienced communications and marketing professionals in a world-class University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Photo asset discovery, editing and image support for colleagues.
  • Identifying and collating content for use on digital platforms.
  • Helping to create and plan social media campaigns.
  • Create and produce digital assets for social, web and digital marketing activities.
  • Helping to update public facing content on the department website, intranet wiki and SharePoint resources.
  • Supporting digital editorial tasks:
  • Preparing and proofing digital content for publication.
  • Updating website content.
  • Updating editorial calendars.
  • Opportunities to work with department colleagues such as our video or press teams.
  • Management of email communication lists.
  • Helping to monitoring social media performance and analytics.
  • Helping to prepare performance reports and reviews.

Required Skills:

  • We are looking for an individual who is proactive, friendly, flexible and understands the importance of team work.
  • A general interest in, working in a communications and marketing environment, therefore, previous work or volunteering experience in this environment would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4 Standard Grades, at bands 1-3 / 4 National 5s, at band A-C (both including English), or equivalent, is essential.
  • Experience of working with information systems, databases and websites.
  • In addition to good IT skills, it is essential you are articulate, enthusiastic and possess good written communication skills.
  • Passionate about writing and creating copy for various online channels.
  • A working understanding of Microsoft Office suite or similar e.g. Excel and Word.
  • Excellent ability to think logically and pass on information in a clear concise manner, written and verbally.
  • Knowledge of social networks including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.
  • Impeccable written English skills including spelling and grammar.
  • An eye for detail and accuracy in picking out mistakes in written content.
  • A willingness to participate in a Modern Apprentice programme.
  • Please note that as this post is a Modern Apprenticeship we will not be able to progress applications from those candidates with prior experience of Marketing or in possession of a higher qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Evidence of design or artistic aptitude and potential.
  • Standard Grade in Media studies at band 1-3 or National 5 in Media at bands A-C or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in an office based environment or of dealing with members of the public and a range of organisations in a customer service environment.
  • An understanding and some level of competence in Adobe Photoshop.

Qualifications

You must have at least 5 National 5 grades, qualifications must include Maths and English.
