We’re looking for a talented, enthusiastic graduate, passionate about providing our customers with the very best service, to join our Specialist Graduate Programme in September 2020.

As a Risk Specialist Graduate you will gain experience of how risk is managed at Scottish Water, specifically how our risk team provide a support service across the business by identifying potential threats and opportunities in the pursuit of business objectives, and ensuring that these are appropriately recognised and managed by the relevant business owners.

In undertaking this role, you will help to safeguard the interests of Scottish Water, our customers and our key stakeholders; and ensure continued progression towards the achievement of the Scottish Water Vision.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain fantastic experience, with a progressive organisation and be supported in your development.  Through developing your skills and knowledge of risk management you will support the business to manage a range of threats and opportunities by drawing on best practice and utilising a variety to tools and techniques.  You will interact with a wide range of business areas, meet a variety of different people and learn about interesting and diverse areas of the business.

Our Corporate Risk Team maintain, review and provide robust reporting of the corporate risk register to various governance groups, including the Executive Leadership Team, Audit Committee and Board.  Our risk team develop and embed risk appetite within the organisation and undertake robust analysis and reporting; providing guidance and direction to key groups in the proactive management of risk.  The team champions a risk-aware culture by working with other teams and individuals across the organisation.

The aim of this two year programme is to further develop your skills and expertise to enable you to take on a specialist technical role on completion of your Programme. Placements within a number of key stakeholder teams during your two year programme will allow you to challenge yourself and colleagues as we are looking for Graduates who have the determination to succeed, add value and become our future subject matter experts and leaders.

You’ll be given the chance to stretch yourself on these placements across Scottish Water and across Scotland too… by being flexible in your thinking and sometimes in your location.

Successful candidates must: have knowledge of the principles of risk management, share our passion for delivering great customer service. An understanding of water and or waste water services is not essential. You will have a minimum 2:2 Honours Degree (or be on track to achieve a 2:2) in Risk Management or a Risk Management related discipline; or a Post Graduate qualification in Risk Management e.g. CIRM/MIRM.
