We’re looking for talented, enthusiastic graduates, who are passionate about providing our customers with the very best service, to join our Graduate Programme in 2020.
In the role of Specialist Quantity Surveying Graduate you will be joining a Commercial function which has solid foundations and is committed to the development of our own directly employed Quantity Surveyors and is a great place to work and develop your career. We have a team of 160 people Scottish Water wide as a Commercial function with a wide ranging depth of experience.
We are seeking to recruit graduates who have aspiration to become our next generation of experts for our Specialist Graduate Programme, which commences in September 2020. We have opportunities for you to join us as a Specialist Quantity Surveying Graduate.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain fantastic experience, with a progressive organisation and be supported in your development. You’ll work closely with your line manager to review your progress towards achieving your objectives around your role. In addition, you will be supported by a Supervising Surveyor and a Mentor who’s roles will be to set the training objectives and monitor attainment and to provide support throughout the programme and on a one-to-one regular basis, respectively.
On successful completion of the initial two year period we will look to put in place a development plan to help you achieve your professional aspirations and you will have the opportunity to work in the commercial team providing support on various contracts in the following areas:
– Design and Build contracts utilising the NEC 3 & 4 Form of contract
– Water and Wastewater Impact Assessments
– Wind Turbines and Solar PV (photovoltaic)
– Operational contracts and frameworks
The aim of this two year programme is to further develop your skills and expertise to enable you to take on a specialist technical role on completion of your Programme.
Placements within a number of key stakeholder teams during your two year programme will allow you to challenge yourself and colleagues as we are looking for Graduates who have the determination to succeed, add value and become our future subject matter experts and leaders.
You will be required to be agile and flexible as our programmes may often require you to move around and stay in different locations and regions of Scotland to develop your skills and to meet the needs of our business
Successful candidates must: share our passion for delivering great customer service; have an understanding of water and or waste water services; have knowledge of current legislation, construction management and /or commercial principles. You will have a minimum 2:2 Honours Degree (or be on track to achieve a minimum 2:2) in a related Quantity Surveying discipline.
