Our UK Graduate Programme provides exceptional graduates the opportunity to master managerial and technical skills. Over the two year period it combines rotational placements with focused training and the possibility of European assignments as well as further personal development and the chance to build your professional network.
From day one, you will be assigned to a particular department and will be guided through the various placement opportunities that exist within your function, the wider business and even with customers and suppliers. This, along with training provided works to ensure you are ready and experienced enough to take the next step of your career following the programme’s conclusion.
In this role, as part of an engineering team within the Advanced Projects department in Earth Observation Navigation and Science you will be involved in the development of new concepts for and technical analyses of space systems relating mainly to future Space Science/Earth Observation/Exploration missions, developing specialist knowledge in these areas. The work will include bidding to and contributing to contracts from ESA, UKSA and other agencies, through studies of instruments, spacecraft and overall mission concepts. The role will involve working on a range of activities, including research and development, proposals, feasibility studies and potential for involvement in system implementation.
Main activities of the role may include;
¤ Generating new mission concepts
¤ System performance modelling
¤ Development of mission and spacecraft designs
¤ Contributing to proposals and R&D activities
¤ Carrying out customer studies e.g. for ESA

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;
– Minimum 2:1 degree in Physics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (an MSc is preferable but not essential).
– Good written and oral presentation skills.
– Strong problem solving skills.
– Good analytical approach, logical thinker
– Ability to think at systems level and to look at problems from first principles.
– Ability to lead a small team, good team player.
– Good customer facing skills.
– Highly pro-active.

The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.
This role will be based in Stevenage and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
