Advanced Level Apprenticeship
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To assist the Practice Nurse team.by providing a clinic to carry out phlebotomy, ECG tests and other various duties.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
Taking and dispatching specimens for laboratory analysis, including blood, urine, swabs etc.
Carrying out diagnostic tests including blood sugars, haemoglobin’s, peak flow measurements and ECG’s.
Taking measurements of patients in accordance with the practice protocols and recording the said results in the practice computer system.
Maintaining treatment rooms in a safe, clean and tidy condition, and ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned and sterilised.
Maintaining adequate stocks (in good and usable condition) of those dressings, drugs, vaccines, instruments, specimen bottles, diagnostic agents and utensils that are used routinely.
This section is for duties which do not fit into the previous section e.g. identifying improvements in service.
Keeping full and proper records of advice and/or treatment given.
Any other duties or training that may be required from time to time, consistent with the activities described above and your skills/experience.
Full training will be provided in all areas.
The post holder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
The post holder will be aware of health and safety/fire precautions.
Requirements and prospects
Must be caring and have good people skills.
No formal qualifications required.
Once qualified the practice would look to offer a permanent post to the right applicant.
