Higher Level Apprenticeship
Currently seeking an ambitious individual who is passionate for programming and looking to progress a career in software development in the environmental sector.
The successful candidate(s) must be a hobbyist software developer and have ambition to grow their skill set. Examples of previous work that can be demonstrated is of interest.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
Undertaking multiple software projects and working to timescales
Working with relevant departments and team members to ensure the deliverables of the project are completed
Problem solving and out of the box thinking/ideas
Requirements and prospects
Interested in software development. They expect the candidate to have either:
Undertaken a course at school/college with an element of software development in it, and show examples of their work
Be a hobbyist software developer, again with examples that can be demonstrated
Highly organised and able to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
Enthusiastic about working in the Software sector
Good personal management skills relating to conduct, timekeeping and delivery against commitments
Good punctuality skills relating to customer and non-customer engagements
Not afraid to ask questions
Prepared to propose solutions
5 GCSEs grades A* – C/9 – 4 or equivalent (including English and maths)
The role offers long term security and the opportunity to progress into a permanent Graduate role.

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.
Learners will receive 10 weeks’ intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.
This apprenticeship will give you a Level 4 Software Developer Standard with training in areas such as:
Functional skills, maths L2 and English L2
Creative Problem Solving
Software Development Methodologies
Human Computer Interaction
Software Testing Fundamentals
Developing Software using SQL
Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
