About the role
We are looking for Highways Operatives to join our Hereford Apprenticeship scheme for a two year fixed term contract. Highways Operatives will be required to work as part of a versatile highways team, delivering both reactive highway maintenance and planned highway works. Out of hours emergency response and winter maintenance duties are also part of the role.
What you’ll be doing
As a Highways Operative, you will be:
Responsible for on site Health and Safety
Liaising with members of the client team and Public to ensure that the client’s needs are met
Working as part of a team to deliver reactive, emergency and other types of highways works in all weathers
Assisting in the delivery of the annual winter maintenance programme (Sept – April)
Out of Hours Standby (on a rota basis)
Who we’re looking for
You will have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s A*- C coupled with an interest in highways maintenance. You will be focused on delivering high quality highway works, safely and to budget. An understanding of Health and Safety is a must. Having a flexible approach to your working day and be willing to work out of hours when required is essential.
