The purpose of this role is to provide support and assistance to the Corporate Communications team, supporting the delivery of effective internal and external communications through various channels. The person in this role will assist the team with the dissemination of council information accurately and in plain language. This is a fantastic opportunity to get really creative and make a difference to a community.

What you’ll be doing:

working with publications officers, write for and contribute to the production of the resident magazine and employee newspaper
research and interview for written work which may be published in print and/or online
support the distribution and display of printed publications and marketing material
work with media and campaigns officers to liaise with and answer enquiries from the media, individuals and other organisations
work with the team to write, distribute and pitch in proactive media opportunities
collate and analyse media coverage and other stats to report on communications work
contribute to content for campaigns, working with the team to produce marketing materials for print and/or online
write, design and schedule social media content
work at resident and employee events including launches, conferences, open days and press tours
commission and brief photographers and designers
ensure team systems are up to date and used effectively, including the photo library, media monitoring system and other planners
You’ll be great for this role if:

3 GCSE level (Grade A* to C) including Maths and English, or equivalent
Prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including with other teams and other geographical locations, as and when required
Interest in developing a career in the field of communications
Experience of prioritising of work effectively and accurately
Excellent ICT skills
