Synergy Multi Academy Trust are looking to recruit an IT apprentice to be based at their Reepham High School site, to assist in the maintenance of the trusts Information technology systems, helping to keep all systems running smoothly and updated.
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (4.00pm on Fridays)
Total hours per week: 37.50

Advanced Level Apprenticeship
Main duties of the Synergy IT Apprentice:
Cleaning projector filters
Tidying cables in laptop/tablet trolleys and cleaning screens
Checking laptop battery life
Cleaning spilt toner from printers
Responding to Helpdesk calls at all Synergy sites
Repairing PCs, Laptops and Printer hardware under supervision
Installing toner cartridges
Resetting user passwords
Installing new equipment as required
Imaging/Re-imaging PCs as required
Setting up the Hall projector and screen for assemblies
Helping with project work during school holidays
Provide support for any classes run in school holidays
Experience to be gained, while working in our school environment, an apprentice will experience the following:
Microsoft Networking Skills:
Group Policy Management
System Center Configuration Manager/Operations Manager
Windows 2012 Server – DHCP, DNS, Print Management, Virtual Machine (HYPER-V)
Windows 7/8.1/10 Clients
MS Office 2013/2016 and Office365
Adobe Creative Suite
Firewall and Content Filtering
The successful applicant will be working within a school environment and will be required to pass a full DBS check.
Requirements and prospects
Good level of IT literacy
Self-motivated, with the ability to work as an individual and part of a team
Punctual time keeping
Keen interest in IT, computers, networking, cloud-based technology and logic
Willingness to learn
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above Including maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)
The potential exists for this role to progress to Level 4 and to develop into a full time position for the right candidate.
Things to consider
Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme, you will be required to attend your local academy for 30 days of training across five months, featuring structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your employer. You will work towards a Level 3, Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship will include:
Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths (if applicable)
Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
Knowledge Module 1 – Networking and Architecture
Knowledge Module 2 – Mobile and Operating Systems
Knowledge Module 3 – Cloud Services
Knowledge Module 4 – Coding and Logic
Knowledge Module 5 – Business Processes
One vendor certification selected based on your job role and individual capabilities (Typically a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA) certification)
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be awarded BCS accredited knowledge modules covering the following topics:
Networking and Architecture
Mobile and Operating Systems
Coding and Logic
You will also receive an industry recognised qualification from Microsoft or CompTIA whilst gaining eligibility to apply to the register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA L3 Professional Competence.
Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS).
