Job overview

We are looking for a passionate IT Apprentice.

The Apprentice will help with the smooth running of our IT equipment across the partnership of schools in the Manchester area. Based between Rushbrook Primary Academy and Stanley Grove Primary Academy, no day will be the same as you gain your Infrastructure Technician level 3 Apprenticeship.

The two locations you will be based at:

Rushbrook Primary Academy, Manchester, M18 7TN [3 days per week]

Stanley Grove Primary Academy, Manchester, M12 4NL [2 days per week]

Main responsibilities

  • The role forms part of the Bright Futures Educational Trust IT Support Team and reports to the Trust’s Network Manager
  • As part of the team, the role holder will be responsible for the monitoring and resolution of IT related issues and queries
  • The post holder will play a pivotal role in providing a high level of user support utilising an IT service desk

The post holder will be based at Rushbrook Primary Academy and Stanley Grove Primary Academy but may be expected to travel occasionally to other Trust schools to undertake training.

  • Provide an efficient IT support service to Trust IT users to include 1st and 2nd line desktop, network and infrastructure support
  • Contribute and maintain a process of IT incident call handling and escalation
  • Contribute to change management coordination
  • Assist with the maintenance and support of all of the Trusts IT systems and infrastructure when required
  • Support management and Network Manager in project implementation as well as the implementation and maintenance of trust IT standards and best practice
  • Learn new technologies as appropriate
  • Complete Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship alongside external training partner
  • Any other duties as may be required

  • To work in one of our school’s applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age in September 2018
  • Ability to work as the only IT contact in school at times
  • Self-motivated and drive to complete tasks to the required time scales and quality standards
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands
  • Personal commitment to the school’s professional standards and code of conduct
  • A commitment to further training and a willingness to participate in relevant CPD
  • A positive approach to challenges, which seeks solutions to problems and addresses difficulties with cheerfulness and good humour
  • Flexible to travel to and work from other BFET locations

Desired qualification

  • Willing to undertake a level 3 Infrastructure technician apprenticeship
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or higher
  • One further GCSE or equivalent

Working week

35 hours per week,

Monday – Friday


£10,200 per annum
