Job overview / purpose: 

To support the IT Service Team in the running of the IT Service Desk which is the single point of contact for all calls from customers relating to the IT Services and IT Systems. The IT Apprentice is expected to assist in the day to day running of the Trust’s IT infrastructure, including PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks, iPADs, interactive whiteboard, projectors. The role will include on-site support for both schools of the Trust. 

Main responsibilities: [The role will include:] 

Service Desk: 

  • Ensure a high level of customer care 
  • Provide first line fault finding for all devices and peripherals
  • Provide technical support for class rooms and office
  • Provide audio visual support for projectors, screens
  • Provide training to staff
  • Set up laptop

IT Maintenance: 

  • Unpack, install, register and configure new IT equipment
  • Undertake routine maintenance task (e.g. servicing projectors, monitoring backups)


  • Liaise with all users of IT including staff, students and service providers


  • Treating all information acquired through employment in confidence

Desirable skills: 

  • Microsoft 10 desktop support
  • PC hardware, Chromebook repair and replacement
  • Understanding of Windows Server fundamentals
  • Understanding of AD and GPOs
  • Demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving

Personal qualities: 

  • Strong interest in all matters of IT
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a very strong team player
  • Be positive and friendly

Desired qualifications: 

Minimum of 5 GCSE’s including grade D and above in Maths and English.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
