Advanced Level Apprenticeship
Lapage Primary School have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to provide support and assistance to colleagues to make effective use of available IT systems and software.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
Ensuring the school website is developed and utilised to its full potential.
Supporting the IT Co-ordinator.
In the absence of the contracted IT technician, assisting in all aspects relating to the care and maintenance of computing equipment throughout the school.
Working with staff to capture learning and events throughout the school and ensuring that the school website is updated on a daily basis to showcase work taking place in class activities, clubs, trips, sporting events etc.
Developing and maintaining a school Blog.
Recommending and implementing changes to the website to keep it interesting.
Recommending and establishing channels to ensure that the website is used by more Brackenhill pupils and their families.
Ensuring that policies and other critical documents are available on the website.
Assisting with the upkeep of the school IT inventory.
Providing support to staff for queries relating to software and hardware.
Assisting with the purchase, setting up, maintenance and repair of computers, computer-linked equipment and computer-related equipment.
Helping to produce and maintain I.T statistics, reports, checklists and other documentation as necessary.
Helping to maintain appropriate stock levels of computer consumables and accessories and raising purchase orders as necessary ensuring that value for money is obtained.
Maintaining satisfactory standards of safety and security in relation to computer rooms and equipment.
Working towards and completing an NVQ Level 3 for IT Professionals.
Being aware of and abiding by the school safeguarding policy, health and safety procedures and other associated polices.
Undertaking any other relevant duties as may reasonably be requested by the Head teacher.
Requirements and prospects
Understanding of general ICT equipment and networking.
Good general education, including English and Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
Willingness to participate in training programmes.
Ability to use initiative and to prioritise.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with pupils and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
5 GCSEs at grades A*- C or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
The role offers long term security and the opportunity to progress into a permanent position.

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.
Learners will receive ten weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.
This apprenticeship will give you a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Standard with training in areas such as:
Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
PC Fundamentals & Customer Service Skills
Business Processes & Network Fundamentals
Coding & Logic
Networking and Architecture
Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
