Description of the job

The Broughton Manufacturing Technologies team is responsible for the design and definition of the manufacturing processes and equipment used to build the wings of all Airbus commercial aircraft variants.
The team covers a broad range of technologies from elementary part machining, through to wing assembly and equipping, with specific sub-teams specialising in automation, drilling, assembly and systems test technologies.
The team is heavily involved in the end to end life cycle of a manufacturing system, from first definition to serial process support as well as delivering continuous improvements through the introduction of new technology.
Tasks & accountabilities
The intern will manage an improvement project based on one of the team’s key technology clusters (automation, drilling and assembly).
The improvement project will be focused around a clear goal such as a reduction in process time, a quality improvement or a material cost reduction.
It is expected that the project will have a strong link to digitalisation, either in support of the goal or as a goal in itself.
You will be responsible for interpreting the scope/objective and translating it into a project plan with clear deliverables.
You will be required to interface with a multi-functional team of technical and non-technical colleagues and develop an understanding of the Airbus organisation.
You will need to develop a solid understanding of the manufacturing processes used to build aircraft wings.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
You must be an undergraduate for the full duration of the placement studying towards a degree in; Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Project Management.
A focus or interest in digitalisation is desirable.
