Your main operational responsibilities will be as follows:

• Maintain good relationships and communication with service users, colleagues and community partners to ensure that a professional and consistent service is provided

• To provide advice, information and reports clearly and concisely via the most appropriate channel (e.g. verbally, in writing, telephone, email etc.) whilst being sensitive to the needs of the audience (e.g. service user, professional)

• To maintain regular contact with the Assessor appointed by the Training Provider and ensure that all assignments, workplace evidence, observations and your portfolio are submitted on time and as required. Line Manager must be alerted at the earliest opportunity if deadlines are going to be missed

• Provide easily accessible, non-judgemental and confidential services, which support service users in reducing harm, assessing need, planning their recovery and reviewing progress, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Deliver strength based assessments and recovery plans under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Maintain and update client files accurately and on a regular basis that ensure that NDTMS, TOPs, Public Health performance frameworks and reporting requirements and fully complied with, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Undertake evidence based interventions with service users in both 1-1 and group work settings (i.e. Motivational interviewing, ITEP, CBT, brief solution focussed therapy etc.) to promote engagement in treatment, encourage self-esteem, well-being, responsibility and enhance motivation, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Work with service users in a holistic way ensuring that their needs are meet, including areas such as Safeguarding, housing, medical, criminal justice and mental health including referrals to appropriate services and joint working arrangements, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Provide accurate advice and information regarding substance use and associated life style behaviours that reduces the risk of overdose, reduces the spread of blood borne viruses, promotes healthy living, and minimises the potential risks and impact of drug related crime and disorder on the wider community, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• Contribute to the protection of all individuals from abusive and aggressive behaviour

• Share information sensitively within the terms of information sharing protocols with a range of agencies when necessary in line with cgl policies and contractual requirements, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

• To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the service offered to clients and actively involve, engage and consult with service users regarding on-going service development, under guidance with an experienced member of staff

In carrying out the above duties the post-holder will:

• Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This will include earlier starts, evening and on occasions weekend working.

• Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills

• Participate in the appraisal, training and supervision processes

• Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation and best practice relevant for substance misusers

• Ensure the implementation of and adherence to cgl policies and procedures

• Act as a representative of cgl whilst in a working environment, to represent the community and the needs of those affected by substance misuse where required

• Respond to and carry any other reasonable request made by cgl managers

• Follow line management direction in order to effectively and efficiently achieve service level agreements targets and outputs

• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as required and when requested

• To be responsible for the implementation of the full range of cgl policies across the sphere of operational responsibility

• Attend all relevant partnership, service user and internal cgl meetings as required and/or instructed by Team Leader

• Work with and support colleagues to a foster a comfortable and healthy working environment

• In conjunction with other team members develop training and educational packages/material for service and agency needs. To support and challenge workers on specific aspects of their practice. To be open to support and challenge from your colleagues.
