Description of the job
Our UK Graduate Programme provides exceptional graduates the opportunity to master managerial and technical skills. Over the two year period it combines rotational placements with focused training and the possibility of European assignments as well as further personal development and the chance to build your professional network.
From day one, you will be assigned to a particular department and will be guided through the various placement opportunities that exist within your function, the wider business and even with customers and suppliers. This, along with training provided works to ensure you are ready and experienced enough to take the next step of your career following the programme’s conclusion.
The Airbus Defence and Space Communication Products Group designs, develops, manufactures and tests equipment for use on board Telecommunications and Navigation spacecraft. Our engineers apply their skills to realise highly complex and compact systems covering RF and Microwave circuits. We span the interface between the analogue and digital domains to realise front end receivers, frequency converters and Solid State Power amplifiers.
Payload equipments are extremely reliable and efficient needing to operate in the harsh environment of space to provide continuous services for people and businesses anywhere on Earth and beyond. To help us deliver cost effective equipment solutions we need people with knowledge or interest in mixed signal technologies, GHz speed circuits, GaN, SiGe-BICMOS technologies, as well as Microwave CAD skills and hands on RF/Microwave testing.
Within this role, you can expect to undertake the following activities; – Supporting lead engineers on development programmes, including parts evaluation, circuit design and preparing and carrying out laboratory testing. – Supporting product manufacture and product development activities. – Creating and validating designs, overseeing manufacturing and creating documentation and reports.
As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the following;
– At a minimum, a 2:1 degree or equivalent in Physics, Electrical/Electronics or related subject (modules in RF/Microwave would be preferable) – Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Excel. – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing – Be proactive and comfortable working in an autonomous way – Strong team focus
This role will be based in Portsmouth and will receive the full Airbus Defence & Space Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000, plus a welcome payment of £2,000.
