Advanced Level Apprenticeship
We require an enthusiastic and customer focused apprentice software developer to join our team in Cambourne. You will be involved in testing, supporting and ultimately working towards developing our inhouse developed online platforms.
testing applications as part of the build process for clients (working with internal customer service team)
posting bugs/issues to our internal system
building and testing online questionnaires (full training provided)
working towards development of customer applications alongside our developers (including coding reports)
Requirements and prospects
Have HTML/CSS skills
Ruby experience (or familiarity with another web framework) preferred
Able to work in a team
Have a good attention to detail and be able to test/troubleshoot
Be well organised with good time management skills
Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Can take personal responsibility
A passion for IT
A minimum of 5 GCSE’s C and above Including maths, English and ICT (or equivalents)
Possible progression to level 4 and full-time employment for the right candidate.
Things to consider
The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour as of 1st of April 2018. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.90 an hour for 18-20 year olds; £7.38 for anyone aged 21 to 24 and £7.83 for those over 25.

Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship you will be required to attend your local academy for 16 days of training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a level 3, Software Development Technician apprenticeship.

Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 1 (Introduction)

Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 2 (Plus Exam)
On completion of this apprenticeship, you will be awarded BCS accredited Knowledge Modules covering the following topics:
Software Development Context
Methodologies and Programming
You will also be eligible to apply for entry onto the register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA L3 Professional Competence
