Ever wondered how a computer program works? Our client based in the CV6 area of Coventry has an exciting new opportunity for an aspiring Software Developer who will help the company develop and grow their team further into the future.
Intequal, in partnership with the Microsoft Apprenticeship Programme, is offering an opportunity to embark on a career as a Level 3, Software Developer.

Job Role

As a Level 3 Software Developer Apprentice, you will be undertaking a recognised apprenticeship qualification, including Microsoft certifications, at the same time as working as part of the company’s software development team.
You’ll work as part of our team to learn about the latest technologies we use to deliver what we need, including C# within the MVC framework, supported by the use of test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration using Team City and continuous deployment using Octopus Deploy.

As a Microsoft Software Developer Apprentice your main role and responsibilities will include:
• Undertake routine support, maintenance and troubleshooting of all software in connection with Support Desk Pro and SD Mobile in line with agreed procedures.
• Provide support to users of the Web Module.
• Undertake fault finding and fault resolution within agreed timescales. Ensuring customers are kept informed of the status of their fault calls so they are aware of progress towards resolution.
• Assist in the design, planning, installation, maintenance and smooth operation of Support Desk Pro and SD Mobile as required.
• Investigate problems and other requests for support and determine appropriate actions to take.
• Apply and maintain specific security controls as required by organisational policy to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability of business systems and data.
• Assist with the production of qualitative and quantitative information and reports relating to service delivery and performance.
• Assist with daily systems administration tasks as directed by the Senior Technical Manager.
• Ensure a consistent level of service is provided at all sites including working at locations as directed

To be considered for this role:
• You must have at least a C grade in both GCSE Math & English
• You should have a GCSE/BTEC/A Level in ICT, Computing or, at least hands-on experience with the workings of computers and IT/software.
• You will be highly organised, have excellent communication skills and a brilliant telephone manner.
• You will be willing to work hard and eager to learn.
• Have an interest in software development.
• Keen interest in programming languages, especially .NET and C#
• Inquisitive mind with good problem-solving skills
• Articulate – able to communicate
• Committed and dedicated to achieve
• Able to demonstrate initiative

Training Provided

You will be enrolled on the award-winning Microsoft Partner Apprenticeship Programme.
The Software Developer Technician (Level 3) apprenticeship contains the following knowledge modules and Microsoft Technological Associate (MTA) certifications:
• Software Development Context & Methodologies
• Programming
• MTA Software Development Fundamentals (C#)
• MTA Database Fundamentals

You will attend 3 training courses to help you pass the exams for the 2 knowledge modules and the MTA:
• Software Development Context & Methodologies
• Programming Using C#
• Database Fundamentals

These qualifications are globally recognised industry certifications and form the significant building block of software development knowledge for anybody looking to start a career in software development.
