Description of the job

Our UK Graduate Programmes provide exceptional graduates the opportunity to master managerial and technical skills. Over the 2/3 year period it combines rotational placements with focused training and the possibility of European assignments as well as further personal development and the chance to build your professional network.

From day one, you will be assigned to a particular department and will be guided through the various placement opportunities that exist within your function, the wider business and even with customers and suppliers. This, along with training provided works to ensure you are ready and experienced enough to take the next step of your career following the programmes conclusion.

The Safety and reliability department is a transnational team within the System Engineering Design Office responsible for providing safety for all the systems of the aircraft. The department operates across all Airbus aircraft programmes and for all aircraft.

The department is situated in France, UK, Spain and Germany and is responsible for the safety assessment. This includes the system safety assessment for functional safety (SSA); Particular Risk analysis (PRA); Zonal Safety Assessment (ZSA). These tasks involve a good knowledge of system behaviours and a good understanding of system installation. The transnational location allows working on all aircraft systems (Flight controls, Landing gears, Fuel, Cockpit….). The safety activities involve close relationships with Design Office, Chief engineering organisation, programs and certification teams.

We are keen to have new Graduates who want to develop their full potential, and take on challenging roles. Our new Graduates are the lifeblood of future developments, and there are plenty of opportunities, whether it be in the design of new system architectures, working to develop new equipment, resolving in-service problems, working on cutting-edge research ideas or working with colleagues in other parts of Airbus to define the best aircraft safety solution.

This role will be based in Bristol, Filton (must be flexible) and will receive the full Airbus UK Graduate programme benefit package including an annual Salary of £27,000.00 – plus a welcome payment of £2,000.00


Our Graduates operate in a very challenging and transnational environment, where they will be given a real and valued role within the Safety Team.

The Team is running a number of parallel programmes and as such new Graduates will get a real insight into the operation of business and one of its more complex and varied systems. Graduates will get the opportunity to have multiple placements working with experienced teams across the Airbus Aircraft Family, from new developments through to in-service Aircraft, as well as working alongside customers, suppliers and manufacturing assembly where necessary.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.


We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Educated to either degree level (2:1 or above) or accredited MEng or equivalent within one the following disciplines; Engineering, Sciences or Maths.
