The National Horseracing College, based in Yorkshire, delivers the Foundation Course which leads onto an Apprenticeship at Level 2 based in a racing yard.  The course is suitable for all abilities, even complete beginners. The aim of this residential course is to prepare students for working in the racing industry and courses start every month. During this initial period of training students will undertake such activities as carrying out yard duties, looking after racehorses, riding out, attending lectures, fitness and studying for their technical certificate and key skills qualifications.

The course will include:

  • An Level 1 Diploma in Work Based Racehorse Care 
  • Key Skills Qualifications and a First Aid Certificate 
  • A work placement in a racing yard to complete an Apprenticeship (at a yard to be agreed between the College and Learner)
