Customer Service Apprenticeship – A career where your voice matters

A customer service Apprenticeship can train you to provide excellent customer service across hundreds of job roles in many different sectors. Most customer service Apprenticeships can be applied to working in retail, financial services, call centres, hospitality, sport or recreation.

As well as having sufficient IT skills to operate a businesses’ administration system, on a customer service Apprenticeship you will need clear and up-to-date knowledge on the organisation’s products and services.

You will learn to communicate with all sorts of people and be able to solve any customer enquiry with confidence.

What types of Customer Service Apprenticeship are there?

There are two types of customer service Apprenticeships you can go into – intermediate level and advanced level. At an intermediate level you can become a customer service trainee, assistant, representative or an agent.

For those undertaking an advanced level customer service Apprenticeship, there are opportunities to become a customer relationship manager, coordinator and team leader. A Customer Service Apprenticeship is great if you enjoy helping people

Your duties as a customer service Apprentice will vary due to the various sectors you could find yourself working in. Most will see that you make sure customers are dealt with in a positive, reliable and pleasant way which can be done by offering advice, answering questions or handling complaints.

At careermap, you can find a huge range of customer service Apprenticeships. Applying is easy: browse through the entries we currently have listed for customer service and click through to follow up the ones you are interested in.

Customer service apprenticeships can provide you with the experience and qualifications needed to pursue a career in this field.  A career in customer service can see you working in a variety of different sectors, and therefore a customer service apprenticeship could take you into many different working environments.  This could involve working in retail, financial services, call centres, hospitality, sport or recreation.  An apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain this experience whilst working towards qualifications and earning a wage. It also gives you an opportunity to not only break into the retail sector but also an opportunity to grow into higher roles such as retail manager, senior sales assistant, team leader or store manager. Of course, like any sector, you’ll have to work your way up to retail management positions from being a stockroom assistant, sales assistant or retail assistant. There are also many paths you can take in the retail sector such as becoming a visual merchandiser and beauty consultant. There are vast amounts of retail companies that offer you an experience to learn retail skills that will prepare you for any job on the high street. Apprenticeship standards ensure you are receiving the education and experience you need to possess these functional skills that will enable career progression. This will allow you to pursue other job roles within a retail environment after the apprenticeship programme is finished.

The level of Apprenticeship you’ll study all depends on your current qualifications. Intermediate Apprenticeships (Level 2) are the same as 5 GCSE’s, an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) is equivalent to 2 A-levels, Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/5) are equivalent to higher education certificates/diploma/foundation degree, a Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6/7) is the same as bachelor and masters degree.

If your dream is to become a retail team leader one day or if you’re looking to get into visual merchandising check out our apprenticeships on Careermap today!
