Hospitality Apprenticeships & Travel and Tourism Apprenticeships – Cater your perfect career

Hospitality Apprenticeships have become more formal over the last few years, with frameworks being in place since the early 2000’s. There are a range of NVQ’s and awards for competences in food & drink services, food processing & cooking, housekeeping and catering.

Hospitality is a sector that is dominated by casual/temporary employment, which means there are a number of valid routes that can lead to a formal qualification recognised throughout the UK and overseas. Through hospitality Apprenticeships could find yourself working in hotels, hostels, restaurants and pubs or within catering sections such as schools, colleges and uniform services.

Travel and tourism Apprenticeships are also available for those who are interested in adventure and could open up routes to working abroad. Which Hospitality Apprenticeships or Travel and Tourism Apprenticeships are right for me?

Hospitality Apprenticeships open the door to one of the biggest employment sectors that needs 855,000 new staff by 2017 to replace those leaving the industry.

There are hospitality Apprenticeships available at an intermediate level where you can train to become a waiter/silver service worker, bar/cellar person, housekeeper or even a reception. At a more advanced level, there are opportunities to enter hospitality management with level 4&5 HNC/HND Diplomas, which enable an Apprentice to enter a managerial level of employment.

Travel and tourism Apprenticeships also have varying levels of skill level needed. From activity leadership, spectator safety and travel services all the way to learning your trade as a travel agent or leisure centre manager!

Do I have what it takes to become a Hospitality & Travel Apprentice?

Opportunities for progression with hospitality Apprenticeships are there to see once you are thrust into the workplace. Several sectors have clear career development and you will be constantly supported throughout your hospitality Apprenticeship to be allowed to hone your skills.

One thing must be made clear for those interested in travel and tourism Apprenticeships – it is not one long holiday. The hours are often long and anti-social and you might be away from home for long stretches.
