We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an IT systems and networking - Azure Cloud Support Specialist - Level 3 Apprenticeship.


To work alongside all central IT team colleagues to provide 1st line reactive support to ICT incidents across all Trust supported sites.

This role will primarily be responsible for reactive processes, whilst also assisting with proactive approach.

The role:

You will have the opportunity to learn to:

  • Resolve problems associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc.

  • Complete IT support requests

  • Install software and hardware

  • Maintain and fix other IT equipment

  • Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance

  • Liaise with third party suppliers such as Internet Service Providers and vendors

  • Support with asset management

Main responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Head of Trust IT Services:

  • Help ensure the hardware and software audits are maintained and that a knowledge base is kept on hardware and software systems accordingly.

  • Provide support for all network systems. Acting to prioritising incidents based on the dynamics of the Trust.

  • Assist with the management of the helpdesk system.

  • To help maintain all ICT user end devices within the Trust supported Schools, including but not limited to desktop and laptop workstations, computer peripherals, local and network printers, interactive screens and projectors.

  • Ensure appropriate processes are followed when making minor changes to systems that include but not limited to application installation, user management and computer management.

  • Contribute to the development and refreshment of the network systems as required.

  • Provide support and guidance to pupils and staff in the use of ICT as necessary.

  • Carry out basic checks on all ICT equipment throughout the supported sites.

  • To work off-site supporting schools within the Trust IT support remit.

  • Assist in maintaining servers and services, service packs, hot fixes and software updates including security vulnerabilities on all servers.

  • Assist in managing active network components including switches, routers and bridges; install additional.

What we are looking for:


  • Knowledge of Windows 10

  • Basic understanding of ICT systems


  • Applies appropriate processes, tools and techniques in a logical and orderly manner

  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision

  • Flexible and proactive approach to workload.

  • Able to travel and work at different establishments

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Other desired qualities:

  • Applies themselves to learn new skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of people

  • Driving license and car – due to working across different sites within Bristol

  • The ability to converse at ease with pupils, parents and other users of the service and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this Azure Cloud Support Specialist programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.
