** This role is subject to a two-week unpaid pre-apprenticeship in Liverpool, upon successful completion candidates will be offered a place on our Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme** What is Steel Fixing? A steel fixer is a trades person on site who ties and installs steel bars known as rebar and steel mesh that is used to strengthen concrete on our construction projects. The Laing O'Rourke Apprenticeship programme - what can you expect? Our Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme is developed for individuals with a passion for construction and engineering. It combines college and work-based training, allowing you to build your skills and gain a recognised qualification while working on some of the most exciting projects in the UK. The Trade and Technical Apprenticeship programme provides you with a formal college education, leading to a Level 2 and/or 3 apprenticeship standards in your chosen vocation. You will also gain a broad set of technical skills through on-the-job training, supported by our qualified and experienced workforce, and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor and approved training provider will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress towards completing your apprenticeship. The Pre-apprenticeship – what can you expect? The pre-apprenticeship programme is a 2-week introduction into the Steel Fixing trade and the industry in general. During the programme you will learn about what's involved in the role, the tools equipment, and materials you will work with when you begin the full apprenticeship. There will also be valuable health and safety awareness training, meaning that you will be site ready and able to embark on to the apprenticeship upon completion of this 2-week programme. The 2-week programme is not paid employment at this time, however, traveling expenses will be covered. Successful candidates from this programme will be offered full time employment as a Laing O'Rourke trade and technical apprentice You will also need to meet the following criteria:
