Giant Digital Ltd. is a web consultancy business. We specialise in high quality, user-focused,  accessible websites, and applications for the charitable sector. 


We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a Degree BSc level 6 Digital User Experience UX Apprenticeship. 

This is a fully remote role, working in a fully remote delivery team. [however travelling to Manchester, M2 3GX will be required for meet ups and social events] 

As this is a client facing role, there will be national travel for on-site meetings with clients and colleagues where necessary.

About the job (main responsibilities)

Our product team is essential to our success.

It's very much a people-oriented job, involving:

  • Requirements gathering

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders

  • Understanding client needs

  • Developing prototypes alongside design documentation to suit our shared vision 

This is an active role in which you will shape the direction and capabilities of all the software which we deliver; you will be responsible for applying your experience and knowledge to build systems which make a real difference in the real world. 

What we are looking for:



  • Good people skills; you will be required to lead project kick off workshops, stakeholder interviews, and user testing sessions both in person, and via telephone and video conference

  • Awareness of the web application delivery process.

  • Experience working with an interface design tool, alongside an understanding of, and basic skills in UI Design

  • A good understanding of how HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) works, UX patterns, and the ability to work to develop design documentation for our clients and delivery team.

  • An understanding of how to employ user-centred design thinking to help identify and convey user types, their goals, behaviours and pain points.

  • Ability to oversee a project and maintain a sense of ownership, working with a multidisciplinary team from discovery to delivery.

  • The ability to communicate ideas in writing, as well as through wireframes and prototypes, and to present these to stakeholders, who may not be technically literate.

  • An understanding of how to test a product and validate objectives have been met.

  • Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.


  • Experience with Figma

  • Experiencing presenting your ideas to senior stakeholders

  • The ability to write example copy to help communicate prototypes

  • An interest in motion design

  • Basic understanding of coding principles

Entry requirements:

Admission onto a higher or degree apprenticeship can only take place if applicants are currently employed and their employer has a training agreement in place with QA.  Applicants must be employed in a relevant role, with the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts directly to their personal and professional work experience.

Potential apprentices will need:

  • 120 UCAS Tariff points 

From a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A-levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas or the International Baccalaureate. 

We may also consider applicants who have successfully completed a related Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, or those with non-standard qualifications, or a significant amount of relevant work-based or professional experience.

English Language Requirements: 

International applicants should have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component (or an approved equivalent*). 

Recognition of Prior Learning and Experience: 

As part of your admissions process, you will complete a Skills Scan. This will identify opportunities for a module or level exemption based on your prior learning and experience, in line with the Degree Apprenticeship Standards. 

Recognition of Prior Learning and Experience will be assessed in line with the university Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and HE Credit Framework. 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

Some apprentices may be able to use the previous study at a similar level, or experience gained through work or other settings, to gain exemption from certain modules on this programme or to accelerate into a later stage of the programme. 


The salary band for this apprenticeship role is £20,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on  experience.

  • 22 days per year paid holiday allowance (plus bank holidays)

  • 2 annual company wellbeing days

  • Office closure between Christmas & New Year
