Description

Role Summary

Working directly for the Senior Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the preparation of proposals/bids, spares, customer price lists and return to work price proposals. Involvement in new work tenders will allow active 'hands on' learning of the full bidding process (including understanding customer technical requirements, cost generation/estimating, proposal writing, risk & opportunity management, contract & price negotiation and project life-cycle management). Additional commercial support, special projects and assistance as may be required to the Programme Management team.

The successful applicant would need to be equally interested in both the engineering and business attributes of a large industrial aerospace manufacturer with the ability to generate and manipulate large volumes of data with meticulous attention to detail to produce financial business models.

Supporting cost and pricing information associated with all aspects of the business including:

Assisting the Commercial & Programme management function as required.
Develop presentations, agendas and correspondence to support bid / no bid decisions, site lifecycle management gates and project meetings where necessary, maintaining compliance with business process and procedures.
New Business proposals including:
Creating (populate) an Excel based business model, applying rates and factors to cost information in order to establish price.
Liaison across all functions (design engineering, tooling, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, quality & finance) to develop, and analyse both new and existing non-recurring & recurring costs.
Review and understand all customer technical data (drawings, specifications, CAD models, etc.) in order to generate a granular commercial assessment.
Identify a detailed work breakdown structure (WBS) and establish the associated cost and pricing data for each element.
In addition to new proposals, pricing support will be required for:
Contract pricing extensions (including contractual escalation)
Modifications and changes
Spares
Return to Works (RTW)
Customer price lists (CPL)
Claims
Develop cost analysis including trade studies and Design to Cost (DtC)
Provide technical and commercial 'value for money' support to the sourcing organisation.
Be able to employ a range of estimating techniques, including historical data, parametric, bottoms up, budgetary, ROM, etc.
Customer interaction as required to negotiate spares, repairs orders, whilst also supporting larger bid negotiations.
Desired Qualifications / Requirements:

Degree in Engineering preferred
Alternatively have a relevant apprenticeship / HNC / HND with suitable experience
Sound commercial acumen, attention to detail, general business understanding
Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel in particular) are essential
Ability to contribute effectively to team-working and group discussions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to produce clear and precise written documents
Possess strong analytical, organisational & problem-solving skills
Ability to work to tight timescales, achieve personal deadlines and contribute to team objectives
