Description

To motivate and stimulate children's learning and development through positive, relevant interactions;

Maintain open, friendly, cooperative relationships with the families who use our service.

To work as part of the team, communicating effectively and respectfully with all team members including parents, auxiliary staff, students/volunteers, supply staff, nursery assistants, supervisors and the management team;

Be actively involved, with the rest of the staff team, in the planning and implementation of appropriate activities;

To help set up the room for the day and tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that equipment is clean and safe, following the agreed procedures;

To attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions as required;

To complete all work pertaining to your apprenticeship and to keep your mentor informed of your progress;

To take responsibility for organising your own appointments and training schedules with college and to ensure that these are agreed with your mentor;

To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job;

Complete records as directed (such as accident forms, registers etc.) to a professional standard;

To advise the supervisor or a member of the management team of any concerns e.g.over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of premises or equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary;

To be aware of any special needs a child or family may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and/or learning plans;

To make progress towards taking on the role of 'key person' for a group of children and their families, following the 'key person job description' (see separate document);

To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the supervisor or a member of the management team, in accordance with the settings business plan, objectives and aims.
