Job summary

We are recruiting motivated, caring and compassionate individuals for the role of Apprentice Dental Nurse.

This full-time position ( hours per week) is based supporting our 4 Outreach Clinics in Beeston, Chapel Allerton, Bradford and Hull and in various departments of the Dental Institute on a rota basis.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent with English Language, Maths being essential and a Science subject being desirable.

On successful completion of work based practical assessments and coursework you will receive a Level 3 qualification in Dental Nursing.

Successful applicants will work as team members within the Dental Team. They will assist Dentists in the management and treatment of patients in the Dental Surgery in their allocated department giving direct hands-on care to patients, and will attend timetabled study sessions.

Our Full Time Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing is an eighteen month apprenticeship. We are recruiting for apprentices to start on 07/05/2024

Main duties of the job

The jobholder will be undertaking a training programme within the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (LTHT). The training will be delivered through formal education delivered by the School of Dental Nursing and Technology situated within Leeds Dental Institute, and clinical placements. They will be involved in providing direct and indirect care for patients in support of and supervised by a registered dental professional.

It is expected that the apprentice will commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the training programme within the contract period.

The jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effective care.

The jobholder will work under supervision within a clinical area undertaking routine clinical duties in the Leeds Dental Institute and Outreach departments, caring for patients whilst undergoing the training programme.

About us

Leeds Dental Institute provides specialist treatments and advice following a referral from a dentist or doctor. This covers the full range of dental specialties, oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as oral medicine.

Leeds Dental Institute provide routine dental treatments as part of dental undergraduate training. It also runs three outreach teaching centres in South Leeds, Bradford and Hull to provide dental care in the community and as part of the learning experience.
