As part of the Site Team at Ipswich Hospital; you will lead on and maintain the Red Day Tracker; a tool which has been developed to support with capacity and flow; and to escalate and unblock any delay that is preventing a patient from being discharged home; or continuing with their ongoing care out of an acute hospital.

This opportunity will allow you to play a major role in the continuing development of service delivery for the benefit of our patients where care and compassion are central to everything we do. 

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to further develop your operational skills in a supportive and innovative atmosphere, including bed management and weekend planning. This is your chance to become a key part of a large, innovative and forward thinking organisation.  You will be responsible for ensuring the day to day inputting on the RDT is escalated and chased to ensure that patient delays are minimised. You will produce reports providing information to Executive Directors that will shape system wide discussions on capacity and resources. Ideally you will have a working knowledge the Discharge Process; and some knowledge of the role of the Discharge HUB and a proven track record of meeting deadlines and experience within a healthcare setting. You will also need to be a skilled communicator with dogged determination; with an ability to work as part of a team; yet sufficiently independent to work under your own initiative. Whilst we are ideally looking for someone with relevant experience an individual with demonstrable transferable skills would be considered.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To maintain the Red Day Tracker Monday – Friday to support capacity and flow within the hospital. Be responsible for appropriate escalation to ensure that patient delays are minimised. Deal with external and internal queries. This may include providing complex or sensitive information to internal and external colleagues. Maintains working relationships within own and other departments to facilitate an effective service Use judgement to deal with a range of routine and non-routine problems that may arise, and only exceptionally refer very complex issues to the appropriate person. Take and transcribe formal minutes, and create action plans and administer as appropriate. Manage your own workload to ensure completion of the full range of your tasks using the knowledge, skills and experience you have gained. Support other team members to undertake the full range of administrative/secretarial activities. Provide a broad range of administrative/secretarial support relevant to area, managing diaries and ensuring that urgent matters are actioned and escalated without delay. Give guidance, support and empathetic approach to any complaints or concerns raised and liaise with the relevant manager to resolve To actively participate in the development of improvements for the service. Incorporate new practices to take account of new technology, demand/capacity tools. You may be required to undertake training in your own discipline, which may include new starter induction. To have an understanding of other admin roles within the department and ensure other admin staff are aware of your role. Work to Trust and departmental policies, standing operating procedures and departmental guidelines. Keeping up to date with relevant IT/information systems. Ensure any information is accurate and up to date before sharing internally or externally. Support the team in gathering any data for audit research purposes. Undertake any other admin or clerical duties as may be delegated.
