A career in Buying offers exciting opportunities to shape the products our customers see every day. On our 2-year Buying apprenticeship programme, you’ll rotate across different product categories gaining hands on experience, with all the support you need every step of the way!
What will you be doing?
As a Buying Apprentice, you’ll be part of the team that plans and selects the products our customers love – both in-store and online. You’ll:
- Work closely with suppliers to deliver competitive, compelling offers.
- Learn every aspect of the Buying Assistant role, from product selection to pricing and promotions.
- Gain insight into merchandising, stock management, and market trends.

We’re looking for apprentices who are:
- Curious and interested in business
- Passionate about retail, the products we offer and customer experience
- Analytical, comfortable working with numbers and detail-orientated
- Great communicators and relationship builders
- Inclusive, honest, and driven to make a difference
- Ambitious and keen to succeed
You'll study for a Level 4 apprenticeship in Buying and Merchandising (equivalent to a higher BTEC qualification). Delivered over two years through blended learning, the programme combines experience with online learning modules, lectures, and face-to-face tuition. We will of course, cover your costs and make sure you have time off to study.
Requirements
- 104 UCAS points/ Level 3 qualification
- No formal experience needed, just a willingness to learn
- Basic computer literacy and internet familiarity
- Good communication and collaboration skills

- A short, blended personality and numerical assessment

- A half-day assessment centre, where you will meet the team and find out more about the programme.
If you are successful, we will ask you to come and join ASDA in September 2026.
