About the Role

Our new Fashion Photography BA (Hons) course sits within the Photography subject area, alongside the well established BA (Hons) Photography course and the new BA (Hons) Sports Photography course. We are part of the Design & Digital Arts Department within the Nottingham School of Art and Design. The subject area benefits from an excellent reputation and recruit’s high calibre students with strong creative and academic abilities and the courses are designed to develop these talents to ensure that our graduates leave us with unique combinations of knowledge, skills and attributes that are aligned to the creative industries of the future.

We are looking for someone who has been involved in Fashion photography either from behind the camera as a photographer or in front of the camera as a creative director or art director role. You will be a fashion specialist and will understand how to engage with the audience beyond the photograph and will have an understanding , curiosity and drive to innovate new ways of engaging audiences in new spaces. There will be cross over with BA Photography and BA Sports Photography, as well as Creative Direction and other Fashion courses across the school. You will be working closely with the course leaders to maximise discipline-expertise and develop creative, learner-centred approaches to teaching and learning. 

As our newest Senior Lecturer and Course Leader, the you will provide academic leadership for the course, ensuring that it reflects University and School policy, practice and processes. You will ensure the effective management and delivery of the course and be responsible for providing academic leadership to the course, addressing issues related to course quality, student satisfaction, progress, and retention. You will be required to liaise and work effectively with the course team to deliver a dynamic and exciting curriculum, ensuring the quality and currency of the course and student experience. You will take an active role in raising the student, course and subject profiles, shaping and enhancing course design and future curriculum development. You will work in partnership with the Principal Lecturer in the subject area to deliver the strategic aims and ambitions of the course and department. You will contribute to a range of modules across the subject area and will be able to offer the required knowledge and attributes as detailed in the attached person specification in one or more of the following areas:

Fashion Photography Creative Art Direction  Emerging Technologies 

You will have an excellent understanding of the subject area as well as knowledge of contextual research and current professional practice within the Fashion Photography field, and will possess both academic and industry experience within the subject area but this is not necessary.
