This is an exciting opportunity to become a Trainee Accountant for a dynamic and diverse Local Authority. We will be recruiting two Trainee Accountants and are looking for people who are passionate about finance, aware of the demands on Local Authorities and who are dedicated to their own learning and development.

The programme is designed to give you the experience, knowledge and understanding you need to be a future leader in the world of public finance. It provides a rich variety of training and exposure, with opportunities to contribute to all kinds of project initiatives and operational work that will be tailored to your development needs.

During your time on this programme, you will complete your qualifications as part of the Level 7 Accountancy Professional Apprenticeship. This will be run by The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA.) Upon completion, you will be eligible to apply for CIPFA Membership with professional chartered accountant status. At least 20% of your employed time will be spent on training and development opportunities.

You will also have access to the apprenticeship development, networking and progression workshops that we run regularly.

For this position, the minimum age is 18 and you must already havebothof the following:

– 5 GCSEs A-B / 6-9 including maths and English OR Functional Skills at Level 2.

– A minimum 2:1 degree in any subject OR hold the Level 4 Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification.

You will not be eligiblefor the apprenticeship if youalready hold a Level 7 qualification in Accounting or Finance.

We have additional set criteria for eligibility for our apprenticeship positions.

Must be a resident of Hackney and/or

– Have been educated in Hackney and/or

– Received support from Hackney’s Leaving Care Services.

You must be able to evidence that you meet the eligibility criteria – please ensure that you have read the eligibility criteria in the Job Description & Person Specification. 

You will not be eligible if you cannot provide this evidence.

This will allow the team to assess your suitability for the role and decide if you are shortlisted for the next stage. You must be able to attend this session, to progress to the next stage.
