Each programme gives you the chance to begin your career journey while receiving structured training and exposure to vital areas of the business. Lidl Graduate Schemes include:

Retail Graduate Management Programme

The retail graduate management programme enables you to experience various aspects of the business including:

Sales

During this area of the business, you’ll be at the forefront, beginning your career as a customer assistant then work your way up over just 6 months, where you could be working as a deputy store manager or shift manager. This will enable you to build your retail skills and experience while also allowing you to choose a leadership style which is right for you and your team!

Logistics

Logistics is firmly at the heart of Lidl. Working in logistics can be challenging at times but also rewarding as you learn the key principles of logistics and warehousing. You’ll usually work in a large team and have a different environment to what you have experienced previously!

Supply Chain

Working within the supply chain of Lidl can be complex at times, you’ll receive training on how to fulfil your daily tasks which can include but aren’t limited to:

Ordering products

Managing quality and freshness Managing important supplier deals ensuring deliveries arrive on time to keep products stocked on shelves

To begin your career journey with Lidl as a Retail Manager you will need the following:

  • At least a 2:2 in any university subject
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Legally able to work in the UK
  • To live/relocate to an hour commute away from your desired Lidl location

Buying Graduate Management Programme

Buyers are at the heart of Lidl, they influence the range of products and the price. As a buyers graduate you’ll play an integral role in ensuring profit. You’ll fulfil your job role on an international scale and will need to liaise with contracts, and negotiate products and you’ll even get to experience store life!

During your first year, you’ll learn about retail operations in a regional distribution centre. Here you’ll work in different areas of the business: warehouse, supply chain and administration. You’ll move into the head office to begin your specialist training rotating around various areas of the business, you’ll gain exposure to marketing and quality assurance, finance, supply chain and logistics. During this time you’ll receive a mentor and you will be shadowing the buying manager.

Then it’s time to pack your bags and jet off to an international buying team in a different country for three days. This will give you the chance to demonstrate your capabilities while attending training courses in buying, communication and negotiation. Once completed you’ll receive feedback and review from the team.

Year 2 will be all about honing your expertise and putting it into practice. You’ll be managing your own product area and analysing competitors. This will give you hands-on experience putting your commercial and negotiation skills to the test. This Lidl Graduate Scheme will be a new and exciting challenge and who knows where it could take you!

This opportunity is available at the following office locations, Head Office in Wimbledon and in the Livingston office in Scotland. To be accepted onto the graduate scheme you’ll need:

  • At least a 2:2 in any university subject
  • German language knowledge is desirable but not essential
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Legally able to work in the UK
  • To live/relocate to an hour commute away from your desired Lidl location

Head Office Graduate Schemes

There are many exciting options to choose from including HR, logistics, procurement and advertising and marketing, plus many more.

Retail Placement Programme

Are you motivated? Keen to learn? Looking for a challenge? The Lidl retail placement programme gives you a 360 degree exposure to the Lidl business. Throughout the placement, you’ll gain insights into property, administration, sales, logistics and supply chain so you can build your knowledge and advance your capabilities.

You’ll also get the chance to be a part of a regional project which will be highly challenging and intense but rewarding nonetheless. From the responsibility of running your own project to the drive when you see results! After this, you’ll even get the chance to experience 2 weeks in the Lidl Head Office, where all your expenses will be paid for. Here you will gain exposure to development opportunities while experiencing the work environment of two different departments.
