Who are the Maritime and Coastguard Agency?
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency are responsible for the prevention of the loss of life on the coasts and at sea and implements the government’s maritime safety policy in the UK.
The Coastguard provides a 24 hour maritime search and rescue service and ensure that when inspecting ships that they meet safety rules, certifies seafarers, registers vessels. They are also involved in coordinating responses to pollution from shipping and offshore installations.
