What training and qualifications do the Royal Institute of British Architects offer?
RIBA offer a wide range of training and qualifications for everyone whether it’s families, children, adults, schools or higher education; architecture matters to everyone!
Through learning programmes with RIBA, you’ll investigate all aspects of architecture encouraging you to explore your creativity via art, digital media and real-world contexts.
Families and Children Learning Programmes allow you to explore architecture through big builds, drawing, performance and digital workshops plus many more activities opening your creativity towards architecture.
RIBA also have a range of activities aimed at 16-24 year olds which give you the chance to learn about architecture and the profession. These courses focus on building your knowledge and skills, so you can explore creative practices that the architecture industry involves.

If you’re looking to pursue a higher education programme in architecture, then RIBA have a wide range of opportunities available to you from design disciplines to architecture and architectural history.
Becoming an architect takes hard work, grit and determination but it’s all worth it in the end. To qualify you’ll usually study five years at university whilst also completing a minimum of two years of work experience.
During your studying, you’ll develop core architectural skills and a knowledge that will prepare you for your work experience within the industry. Throughout your work experience, you’ll put your theoretical knowledge and skills into practice which will further enhance your career objectives and provide you with a broad scope of benefits appropriate to the architecture industry.
RIBA also offer alternative routes into architecture for those who can’t commit to full time study such as self-study routes, part time study, accredited prior learning (APL) or accredited prior experiential learning (APEL) with a range of opportunities also available to overseas and mature students.
