WorldSkills UK
Raising standards
We are driven by the unwavering commitment to raising standards in education through international benchmarking and professional development. We achieve this goal by offering educators valuable resources, such as our Learning Lab platform, providing them with high-quality free to access continuing professional development modules. These are an excellent and innovative way of helping educators to stay at the leading edge of their practice, enabling them to inspire students and apprentices to aim higher in their education planning and skill development. Notably, 89% of educators highly rate Learning Lab courses, while 77% of learners apply acquired skills to education, work, and life, showcasing tangible impact.
The WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence has developed from an award-winning workforce development programme into a sector leading innovation hub. It empowers leaders and educators with the expertise to enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Learning. With support from Education and Industry partners, the fully funded program offers a blend of online and in-person events, aiming to benefit over 5,000 educators and impact more than 140,000 learners in the next three years. Leveraging 70 years of international skills benchmarking, the Centre provides access to world-class teacher training, industry-led innovation networks, and a global community for thought leadership, driving research and shaping future policy to champion UK skills excellence.

Championing future skills
Championing Future Skills through analysis of rapidly changing economic demand enables us to tailor educational initiatives and training programs that align with evolving industry needs. In light of a recent report commissioned by WorldSkills UK and conducted by the Learning & Work Institute, we've identified a concerning knowledge gap among young individuals aspiring to pursue environmentally sustainable careers. Despite a growing demand for green skills, it's clear that the UK is at risk of missing its net-zero targets due to a lack of awareness about the specific skills needed. At WorldSkills UK, we're taking immediate action. We're leveraging these findings to develop targeted careers advice for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Recognising the urgency, we're aligning our skills competitions and professional development programs to foster world-class skills crucial for a sustainable and greener future. Our proactive approach aims to bridge the gap, accelerating the UK's transition to net zero while promoting inclusivity and excellence.
