What you’ll be doing:
As a manufacturing engineering technician you will undertake your training at the Academy for Skills and Knowledge at Samlesbury Lancashire. You will be trained in both practical and theory-based engineering and in addition, learn the basics in such things as electrical circuits, aircraft fitting, fabrication, flight line awareness, machining, carbon fibre and Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Entry requirements?
England and Wales
- Age 16+
- 5 GCSE A*-C or 9-4 (or equivalent) Including Maths and English, as well as a science or technical subject for engineering or technical roles. A minimum of 72 UCAS/96 UCAS points or equivalent, this varies depending on the role.
Scotland:
- Age 16+
- 5 National 5’s at grade C or above, plus 2-3 Highers at grade C or above (dependant on role, including English and Maths (Application of Maths can be accepted) as well as a business or IT related subject for business related roles. Specific requirements may vary depending on the role.
Some roles may also require additional qualifications or UCAS points.
What is the application process?
The stages of our application process include: a short online application. If you’re successful, you'll then complete an online assessment with interactive activities, and an on-demand video interview. The next stage is competency-based interview, either virtual or face-to-face.

Export Control/Security
Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
